The Young Apprentice programme is a series of curated fashion-related workshops led by fashion designers and facilitated by Zeitz MOCAA’s Head of Education, Liesl Hartmann who will explore the craft of making fashion that includes flat patternmaking skills, recycling found materials, and sculpting. The workshops build on principles of folding.
Children from the ages of 8 – 12 (morning sessions from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) and teenagers from the ages of 13 – 17 (afternoon sessions from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) interested in style, colour and fashion will explore creative ways of making, drawing and shaping fashion in this Young Apprentice III programme. The workshops will explore a range of fashion related themes and encourage creative projects through a range of materials.
The workshop is built on principles of folding, collage, form and creative thinking and explores ways of talking about traditional fashion crafts and contemporary fashion practices. This programme consists of three separate components for the season – colour, environment and shape. In this workshop, participants will focus on shapes and forms.
