Date & Time

29 March 25 - 29 March 25

10:15 AM - 12:30 PM

The Family Learning Workshop for March has been inspired by the artist, Berni Searle, whose work can currently be seen in the Atelier on Level 2 of the museum.

Berni uses her body that she imprints or covers with different sensory materials and then photographs, to explore ideas relating to identity, history, memory and place. Her works are essentially lens-based but is also known for her immersive installations and sculptures. She uses a range of substances that evoke the different senses and that are at the same time used to express beauty and vulnerability.

After a guided tour and discussion of Berni’s work in the Atelier, participants will experiment with unorthodox materials as they explore ideas and then create works that encourage an investigation into personal histories, heritage and culture. These materials will encourage a playful rediscovery of how we view and make images and the ways in which some memories can be illusive while others are deeply ingrained.

Zeitz MOCAA’s Family Learning Workshops at the BMW Centre for Art Education enable parents/guardians and their children to share a creative experience and develop their engagement with art, together. Materials and equipment are provided along with a snack break.
