The title of the October Family Learning Workshop is Soaring Silos. We will be making a windsock kite that is inspired by the shape of the individual cylindrical silos of the building that was built 100 years ago. The Soaring Silos kite will be made from a variety of materials, and participants can choose to embellish it, inspired by any visual aspect/s of the building or artworks in the museum’s exhibitions.
Zeitz MOCAA’s Family Learning Workshops at the BMW Centre for Art Education enable parents/guardians and their children to share a creative experience and develop their engagement with art, together. Materials and equipment are provided along with a snack break.
This workshop will take participants to look at the exterior features of the building and explore the new architecture exhibition Silo Through the Century, Into the Contemporary.
A creative windsock kite-making session will follow. Working with a variety of colourful papers and other decorative materials, participants will be invited to make a kite that celebrates 100 years if the building and the things that they find inspiring about the museum.
