Zeitz MOCAA is proud to partner with the Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) and Scheryn Collection to present Nástio Mosquito, Respectable Thief (2015). Commissioned in 2015 by the Museum of Modern Art, this immersive performance by Mosquito is being restaged in the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Atrium Bowl.
Respectable Thief, a multi-interventionist performance the Angolan artist bridges performance, music, video, installation, sound, and poetry. Here Mosquito tackles the acts and effects of appropriation, to construct identity, maintain relationships, and gain power.
This ambiguous approach to both the good and the bad of our entitlement and the evolution of our collective Robin Hood syndrome is the foundation of Respectable Thief – a celebration of a productive, articulate anger.
