Date & Time

25 September 21 - 25 September 21

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

In keeping with Heritage Day and inspired by Thania Petersen’s artwork, In Defense of Our Memories, the theme for the From Me To You  Family Learning Workshop will focus on heritage and culture. Parents/guardians and children will be offered the opportunity to play and develop their engagement with art together.

Thania Petersen is currently the artist in residence at the Zeitz MOCAA Museum. Her work investigates the intricacies and complexities of culture, identity and heritage.

A talisman is any object that is thought to have magic powers and to protect, heal or bring good luck to the person it is made for. Talismans are mostly portable objects that are carried on someone in a variety of ways. They can also be installed permanently in architecture.

The parents/ guardians and children will each make their own talisman using the materials provided. Thania will add and attach these to her artwork, and each person will be credited.

Run by Amy Cornfield, the Family Learning Workshops enable adults and children to share a creative experience, work collaboratively and learn together.

Children enter for free and must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission for members is free.

Annual membership is R290.
Admission for non-members is R210 for a single entry ticket.
