MOCAA Creatures Move: Children’s Summer Season Programme

Nov 28, 2018

Join us for a fun time of mixed media drawing and origami. MOCAA Creatures Move is an initiative by the Centre for Art Education at Zeitz MOCAA and is a workshop designed for children between the ages of 6 and 12.

Age 6 – 8: 10 – 11:20 a.m.

Inspired by Mary Sibande’s work, In the Midst of Chaos, there is Opportunity, children will create a mixed media drawing, experimenting with ink washes, chalk pastels and collage elements. This creative drawing activity will bring the movement of the horse in Mary’s work to life.

Age 9 – 12: 12:30 – 2 p.m.

The Japanese art of Origami is widely acclaimed for its educational and creative benefits for children. Improved hand-eye coordination, perseverance and patience, spatial awareness, improved memory and self-esteem being just a few of these positive outcomes of the process. Why not join us and come and see what MOCAA creature children will be making in this workshop.

Led by experienced teachers, children will be inspired by the space and encouraged to explore a range of drawing and collage techniques. Other workshops in this season will encourage children to explore the creative possibilities of paper, plastic, fabric, and recycled materials in a creative, nurturing, and child-friendly environment, where they will learn about the museum, the artworks on exhibition, and the history of the Silo District.
