Re-opening 2020: Zeitz MOCAA Statement

Aug 3, 2020 | Zeitz MOCAA Announcements

Dear friends of Zeitz MOCAA

It is my pleasure to update you on our plans for reopening Zeitz MOCAA. For now, the museum remains temporarily closed due to the pandemic.

Your health and safety are our priority. We are busy putting in place all the necessary measures to welcome you back safely.

We are currently deinstalling ‘Why Should I Hesitate: Putting Drawings to Work, the largest ever exhibition by William Kentridge which we had the pleasure to show from August 2019 until lockdown in mid-March 2020.

We are excited to announce that this exhibition is travelling to Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, one of Europe’s largest museums for contemporary art and photography, as part of our burgeoning museum cooperation programme with Germany. The exhibition will open in October 2020, and is the first international travelling exhibition facilitated by Zeitz MOCAA.

Also, we are hard at work to resume our exhibition schedule with shows and programming that will excite, provoke and educate.

While our doors remain shut, we continue to host a variety of online events such as talks with art leaders from the pan-African professional sphere, art-making sessions, and performances by leading African musicians and other creatives.

Stay up to date and connect with us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We love hearing from you.

Stay safe and see you soon.
