Progressions in Drawing – Family Learning Programme

Aug 26, 2019

Parents/guardians and children aged 12-17 years are invited to join us for an open-ended art-making workshop. Adults will be encouraged to draw alongside their youngsters, in a friendly, relaxed and inspiring afternoon workshop.

This workshop takes inspiration from the William Kentridge extensive exhibition, Why Should I Hesitate: Putting Drawings To Work. Participants will respond to Kentridge’s work titled Drawings for the Head and the Load  (2017-2018) and will be encouraged to create their own ideas and make new work.

This workshop will start with a brief tour of the Kentridge’s exhibition, as a source and an inspiration. We will then return to the studio, where making a drawing in novel ways will be possible. We will offer a variety of materials and light sources to extend the experience of illustration, in a playful and fresh way. Enjoy making large drawings using the methods of collage. Families will work individually and collectively in a lively and social art-making environment.

Tea, coffee, biscuits and juice will be served half-way through this workshop.  This workshop is for families who want to spend creative time together. No experience necessary – just curiosity and interest in art.
