Inspiring Spaces: Children’s Summer Programme

Learn how to make 3-D constructions using cardboard and paper at our Inspiring Spaces Children’s Summer Programme.

Our summer season children’s workshops have been tailored to different age groups. This Inspiring Spaces workshop caters to children aged 6 – 8 and children aged 9 – 12.

Schedule:
10 – 11:30 a.m. – Ages 6 – 8
12 – 2 p.m. – Ages 9 – 12

Join us at the Zeitz MOCAA Centre for Art Education for an exciting children’s workshops over the summer season. Led by experienced teachers, children will be inspired by the space and encouraged to explore a range of different wet and dry mediums and techniques such as painting, drawing, origami, collage, 3-D construction, and print-making. They will also explore the creative possibilities of paper, plastic, fabric, and recycled materials in a creative, nurturing, and child-friendly environment, where they will learn about the museum, the artworks on exhibition, and the history of the Silo District.

* Parent or guardians (accompanying children) with Zeitz MOCAA Membership enjoy free admission. Admission will apply for non-members. Purchase your  annual membership unlimited access to the museum for a year, amongst other benefits. Membership starts at only R270.
* In order for your children to participate in these workshops, please accompany them to the Centre for Art Education on Level -1 for registration. Please do not leave your children unaccompanied in the reception area.

This tour is part of the initiatives by Zeitz MOCAA’s  Centre for Art Education.

The Centre for Art Education is a space for the development of  educational and enrichment programmes for all. This accessible platform provides the tools and language for the appreciation of artistic practice from Africa and its Diaspora.

Working closely with the other Centres at Zeitz MOCAA, and other educational institutions in the surrounding communities, the Centre for Art Education is responsible for a well-rounded, multi-faceted programme, designed to accommodate the needs of all.

The Centre is an environment which encourages in-depth open discussion; multilingualism; and intercultural understanding through an expansive programme of workshops, lectures, seminars, panel discussions, and guided tours. The Centre is also responsible for the distribution of content generated at the museum to wider audiences via our various online platforms and outreach programmes.

Daily Tours

Free daily 1-hour tours are offered Monday through Friday at 12:30 PM. Book on arrival at the museum with our Front of House team. Capacity is limited.

Inside the Waterfront

From the Clock Tower, it’s a 3–5-minute walk to the Silo District. From Battery Park, 5-7 minutes along the canal. Look for the concrete silo with the glass rooftop – that’s Zeitz MOCAA.

From the Freeway

Follow signs to V&A Waterfront via the N1/N2. Enter Dock Road to the Silo District. Zeitz MOCAA is the historic grain silo on Silo Square. Parking: Silo 1 or 2 or at Battery Park.

From the Suburbs

From M3/M5, head to the V&A Waterfront. Enter via Dock Road and continue to the silo District. Find us on Silo Square in the grain silo building. Parking nearby at Silo District or Battery Park.

Parking

Secure parking is available at the V&A Waterfront Silo District Parking Garage (P3). Direct access to the museum is available from the garage.
