CFAE Children’s Autumn Holiday Programme

Apr 5, 2023

Our CFAE Children’s Autumn Holiday Programme is back!

Guided by the Zeitz MOCAA museum educators and Lalela facilitators, children between the ages of six and 12 will create their own woven wonders, inspired by the work of local artist Igshaan Adams, Zeitz MOCAA Atelier’s artist-in-residence currently working on level 2 of the museum.

Participants will work on specially made looms and use colourful cord and beads provided by Adams’ studio as well as wool, thread, string and strips of cloth of varying thickness, textures and colours. The looms have been crafted from wood and cardboard by Adam’s studio assistants and are ideal for smaller hands. All materials are provided and children are welcome to bring along any materials of their own that they would like to weave into their artwork.

The workshops will take place at Zeitz MOCAA’s Scheryn Arena on level 0 for children aged six to 12 years. The same activity will be offered across three days, from 4 to 6 April, and participants may book for one, two or all three days, limited to one session (morning or afternoon) per day. The same activity will be offered across all three days, however, children are encouraged to attend up to three sessions as the more time they have to work on their woven pieces, the richer and more complete they will be.

A maximum of 20 children will be allowed per session and parents/guardians are requested to deliver their children to the Centre for Arts Education (CFAE) on level -1 of Zeitz MOCAA for registration. No children must be left unattended in the reception area. Parents may leave their children in the workshop once they have been registered.

Children of Zeitz MOCAA members participate free of charge while a single entry to accompany your child is R230. Zeitz MOCAA memberships can be purchased here for R390 and are valid for 12 months.
