BMW Centre for Art Education Children’s Summer Holiday Programme

Join us at Zeitz MOCAA’s BMW Centre for Art Education this December and January for an exciting season of children’s workshop activities over the 2025 summer school holidays. The activities are offered at different levels of complexity to accommodate different skill levels and age groups, ensuring maximum fun for all ages.

Entry for Non-members
R150 per child per workshop.
Non-members will drop their children off, but should they wish to visit the museum while their child is in a session, standard admission of R265 per adult applies.

Entry for Zeitz MOCAA Members and Mini Passport Holders
R100 per child per workshop.
Zeitz MOCAA members enjoy free access to the museum all year round.
R265 Standard museum admission applies per adult for Mini Passport Parents.

Kindly note that booking on Webtickets is essential and workshop spots are limited.

Children’s Holiday Programme: Summer Palette

11 – 13 and 15 – 17 December 2025 | 10 am – 1 pm

(Workshops)

Join the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education team for a bumper, super creative Summer holiday programme for children. Eight different activities will be offered this season at different levels of complexity to accommodate different skill levels and age groups, using a range of fun and exciting materials including paint, pastels, beads, funky fabric, felt, sparkly things and much more.

Workshops are offered to all children between the ages of 6 and 16. The workshop will begin between 10 am and 10.15 am and run uninterrupted until 1 pm. Children may also take a snack break between activities in the workshop venue. Children are reminded to wear activity clothes, but aprons are provided.

Parents and guardians are requested to deliver their children to the Scheryn Arena on Level 0, after producing the Webtickets proof of payment for the workshop at the front desk/reception. Your children will be welcomed and registered by our friendly studio assistants. Please do not leave your children unattended in the reception area.

During the workshop, parents are invited to view our current exhibitions and/or relax at the Level 6 restaurant, Ocular Lounge, with beautiful views of the harbour. Standard museum admission applies at R265 per person.

Summer Storytime with The Stories That Ran Away

22 – 23, 27, 29 – 30 December 2025 and 3 January 2026 | 10 am – 5 pm
Atrium Bowl and Classroom 1, Level -1
(Reading and Making Sessions )

10 am – 12 pm | Storytelling and Creative Arts Session 

The Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education presents six storytelling and creative arts sessions for children in the Atrium Bowl of the museum.

Families are welcome to a special festive season programme between Christmas and into the New Year, when the mysterious and magical characters of the STORIES THAT RAN AWAY come alive through storytelling and creative making activities. Meet Khvum and the Crocodile woman, Mouse and all of her story children, Father Sun and the Nya Nya Bulembu, and take them home with you after a session of creative making that will bring all of the characters to life.


1 pm – 5 pm | Open Studio: Free to Create 

The storytelling session will be followed by an open studio session in Classroom 1 of the BMW Centre for Art Education, where children are free to create an artwork of their choosing. Materials for 2D and 3D creations will be offered.

Open Studio: Free to Create

(Activities)

Start your 2026 creative journey at the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education. Families are invited to spend time making and creating together with a variety of two- and three-dimensional mediums in our Open Session: Free to Create in the BMW Centre for Art Education, Classroom 1, on Level -1. Friendly studio assistants will be present to assist and share some fun techniques inspired by the exhibitions in the museum or you may quietly create on your own.
