Get ready for a fun-filled holiday art adventure!
Join us at Zeitz MOCAA’s BMW Centre for Art Education this June/July for an exciting season of children’s workshop activities over the 2026 winter school holidays. The activities in this workshop series have been inspired by Zeitz MOCAA’s current exhibitions: SALA, Spring Is Rebellious: The Art & Life of Albie Sachs, Selections from the Collection, We Proceed in the Footsteps of the Sunlight featuring the artist Zohra Opoku, Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted featuring the artist Cauleen Smith, and A Protea Is Not a Flower featuring the artists Lerato Shadi and Robin Rhode.
In this playful monoprint workshop, young artists will explore the magic of one-of-a-kind prints as they create artworks that explore a wide range of subject matter. Using paint, magazine cuttings, soft pastels and fabric, children will paint, press and layer to bring their ideas to life. It’s a hands-on, slightly messy, super creative experience, revealing unexpected and exciting results everywhere. Children are reminded to wear activity clothes, but aprons will be provided. Activities are offered at various degrees of complexity to accommodate different skill levels and age groups, ensuring maximum fun and engagement.
Parents and guardians, you are requested to deliver your child/children to the reception area where they will be registered. You will be guided to the venue on the day. Please do not leave your child/children unaccompanied in the reception area. Children will be accompanied to the bathrooms by a studio assistant at all times.
Workshops are open to all children and teens aged 6–16. Children will be registered at the beginning of the class and only parents and guardians will be allowed to sign children out when they want to leave. Younger siblings (5yrs or younger) must be accompanied by parents or guardians at all times if they wish to participate in the workshop activities with a brother or sister. We welcome teens who would like the opportunity to create amongst and alongside younger children.
This holiday programme is offered in an open studio format where children can develop their monoprints, choosing from a variety of materials at different stations.
On each day, the workshop will begin between 10 am and 10:15 am and run uninterrupted until 1 pm. Children may also take a break for a snack in between activities.
