Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) in partnership with Bernini celebrates National Women’s Day with a special art-inspired wellness day, exclusive to Zeitz MOCAA members, at the museum on Friday, 9 August, 8.30 am – 5 pm. Combining wellness and art, the event offers our valued members a unique blend of relaxation, creativity, and inspiration. The day is divided into two sessions and bookings can be made to attend the morning wellness session, and/or the afternoon art session with live DJ set.
The morning wellness session starts at 8.30 am with a relaxing and reflective yoga session on the museum’s level 6 rooftop terrace, accompanied by a soothing sound bath designed to rejuvenate both body and mind. After the session, guests will enjoy a wellness talk and breakfast at the level 6 restaurant, Ocular Lounge.
The afternoon art session kicks off at 2 pm with a curated tour of the Seekers, Seers, Soothsayers exhibition on level 3 which features seven artists whose lens-based work explores accounts and experiences connected to the nonphysical world. The highlight of the afternoon is an immersive and uplifting artmaking workshop inspired by the work of one of the artists featured in the exhibition. Zambian artist Gladys Kalichini’s four-channel video, “…these practices are done in sharing her stories,” invites participants to create artworks celebrating the women who have impacted their lives. Kalichini’s work encourages us to think about the different ways to show care. All art materials will be provided, and the event will be enhanced with music from a DJ and drinks served throughout the session.
