Prior to this Christian worked as Assistant Editor at ART AFRICA magazine (2015-17). In addition to the numerous interviews and written works produced for ART AFRICA, Christian has also contributed his voice to IAM magazine; copy-edited Ashraf Jamal’s latest book, In This World: Essays on Contemporary South African Art (2017); and most recently, edited South African artist Kai Lossgott’s book can I eat it, can I sell it (from the artist box set ‘not in my back yard’). He also worked on the catalogue for ‘hunter-gatherer’ (2017), a solo exhibition by Lossgott, produced as part of the ABSA L’Atelier Award (2015).
In 2014 Christian founded Ism-Skism, an ongoing artist-led initiative that encourages participants to produce work in the public domain, alongside members of the broader community. In 2015 he was invited to speak at the National Arts Festival’s Think!Fest, and participated in a panel discussion called Redefining Urban Public Spaces.
