Daily Admission

Admission is R230 per adult. Children under 18 receive free entry, please bring some form of ID for teens.

Free entry for under 18s on presentation of ID

Stop by on any day during your birthday month (Tuesdays – Sundays), show us your valid South African ID or African passport reflecting your birth date and your day of fun at the museum will be on us.

Free entry every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm for all African citizens on representation of you South African ID or African passport

R290 (R210 for over-60's) per annum benefits include:

  • Unlimited admission (Free for under 18s).
  • Preferential queue at the entrance.
  • Special member events, talks, tours, and extended opening hours.

Bronze membership

In addition to Annual Membership benefits, Bronze Members have access to the following for R1,350 per annum:

  • Priority ticketing for special exhibitions and education programmes.
  • Curator-led members' tour of new exhibitions* (as announced).
  • VIP invitations to opening cocktail receptions for major exhibitions.
  • Two guest admission passes, valid for single entry.

Silver membership

In addition to Annual Membership benefits, Silver Members have access to the following for R5,000 per annum:

  • Priority ticketing for special exhibitions and education programmes.
  • Curator-led members' tours of new exhibitions* (as announced).
  • VIP invitations to opening cocktail receptions for major exhibitions.
  • Six guest passes valid for single entry.
  • VIP invitations to Silver Member events.
  • One (1) private curator-led tour with four (4) guests* (T&Cs apply).

Additional Information

Opening Hours

Our opening times are Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5.30pm. The museum has a generator and is therefore not affected during periods of loadshedding. While we remain open to the public throughout the current COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve put some additional processes in place to ensure your health and safety. On arrival, your temperature will be taken and you will be asked to sanitise regularly at the sanitisation stations throughout the museum.
