BMW Centre for Art Education

Zeitz MOCAA’s BMW Centre for Art Education is a dedicated team of education specialists that develop, design, host and implement meaningful programmes that engage with the collection and exhibitions. Our aim is to make art accessible to a diverse audience of all ages through discussion, debate and active making. This speaks directly into one of the founding elements of our mission and vision, namely to operate school and education programmes that enrich, inspire, and bring art and culture to children and adults. We welcome and collaborate with local and international organisations, institutions and schools that provide access to 21st-century African art practice.

The BMW Centre for Art Education is located on Level -1 and consists of two classrooms, as well as shared office space and two bathrooms. The classrooms function as practical studio spaces for art teaching working in wet and dry mediums, and can also be used for meetings, seminars and workshops. Classroom 1 has the capacity to accommodate between 30 and 60 people working or seated at tables. Classroom 2 can accommodate up to 50 people seated or 30 people working at tables.
